Fluid Oxidation Study

An ongoing study using Immersion Canary instrumentation to track the electrical behavior of aged and oxidized immersion fluids against controls.

The work at a glance

Measurements recorded
378,088
Continuous EID sampling at 30-second intervals, recorded through August 2026
Instrumented cells
12
Aged and control fluids run side by side across three sessions, through August 2026
Resistance span observed
0.7 MΩ – 1 TΩ
Observed through August 2026; the nominal instrument range is 1 MΩ–1 TΩ (six decades)
Collection window
August 2026–present
Data collection is ongoing.

Research question

How does fluid aging and oxidation change the electrical environment experienced by immersed electronics, and how early is that change measurable?

Method

Grouped test cells run Immersion Canary Environmentally Induced Degradation (EID) sensing cards in aged and control fluids under configured bias, with leakage current, heater duty cycle and board temperature logged continuously per device.

Status: Ongoing research

Findings will be published after the study is complete and reviewed. Get in touch to discuss the method or collaborate.
